David Fraser

Dr. David A. Fraser currently serves as the Senior Consultant for Educational Partnerships for Development Associates International.

Previously, he served as the Provost of Eastern University (St. Davids, Pennsylvania, USA), and was the founding Dean of School of International Leadership and Development at Eastern, delivering business, leadership and economic development programs in partnerships with NGOs and developing world universities. As dean, Dr. Fraser was involved in strategic academic planning, faculty hiring and development, and representation of SILD to Eastern’s Board of Trustees. He also served as Dean of the Arts and Sciences at Eastern University. Dr. Fraser is co-founder and served as the Executive Director of the Center for Organizational Excellence at Eastern University. He taught at Eastern for 22 years as professor of Sociology and Christian Studies.

Before coming to Eastern in 1986, Dr. Fraser gained significant exposure at the grass roots of the world in two capacities. First, he was a member of the senior staff of the MARC Division of World Vision International with responsibilities for unreached peoples. In addition, he served with the Mission Training and Resource Center for three years, helping to develop curricula and models for more effective equipping and orienting of people called into cross-cultural ministry.

Dr. Fraser’s teaching experience includes teaching fellowships at Harvard and Vanderbilt Universities. He served on the faculties of Columbia International University, Palmer Theological Seminary (formerly Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary), and Eastern University.  He has taught courses at Fuller Theological Seminary, Azusa Pacific University, Trevecca Nazarene University, and Daystar University College (Nairobi, Kenya).  He also serves as an occasional visiting professor at Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (Kenya).

Dr. Fraser holds undergraduate honors degrees from Columbia International University (Bible) and Stanford University (anthropology). His graduate degrees are from Harvard University (sociology), Fuller Theological Seminary (theology and missions) and Vanderbilt University (theological ethics).

Dr. Fraser’s publications include Planning Strategies for World Evangelization (co-authored with Ed Dayton) and Sociology Through the Eyes of Faith (co-authored with Tony Campolo). Current research and writing focus on the cultural worlds of the Bible as a basis and model for contemporary issues in incarnating Christian faith in the diverse cultural worlds incorporated in the world Christian movement.

David is married to Dr. Elouise Renich Fraser, retired professor of Systematic Theology at Palmer Theological Seminary. Dr. Renich Fraser is the author of Making Friends with the Bible and Confessions of a Beginning Theologian. David and Elouise have two adult children and three grandchildren. Dr. Fraser is an ordained minister of the Word in the Presbyterian Church, USA. He served as pastor in three churches and as minister of church growth on a multi-staff Church. He currently attends Narberth Presbyterian Church in Narberth, Pennsylvania.
